As an organisation with a focus on community, Royal Freemasons is fortunate to have a large team of volunteers – more than 275 people of all ages, with varying backgrounds from all over Victoria – who generously give their time to volunteer in our facilities. Each year, we celebrate International Volunteers Day on 5th December to show them how much they mean to us.
In December 2018, as part of this proud annual tradition, Royal Freemasons hosted a special luncheon with entertainment for our magnificent volunteers at Coppin Hall in Moubray Street, Melbourne. Mount Martha Valley Volunteer awardee Julie Heron A diverse mix of young and veteran volunteers came along, celebrating the spirit of connectedness with longstanding friends and making new ones.
As expected, the room was filled with happy faces and Chief Executive Felix Pintado personally thanked everyone for their noble support and dedication. A highlight was the presentation of our annual Volunteer Awards to acknowledge those who Elizabeth Gardens Volunteer awardee Claudio Riga selflessly and wholeheartedly supported our homes and our residents during the year.
The wellbeing of those in our care would not be possible without the willingness and assistance of volunteers. They all deserve a big ‘thank you’ for making such a positive, caring difference in the lives of our residents.
