Following a comprehensive recruitment process, the Board is pleased to announce the appointment of John Fogarty, who takes over from Kerri Rivett as Chief Executive Officer of Royal Freemasons.

A highly accomplished senior executive, John has over 30 years’ experience supporting organisations to shape and implement transformation programs within the health, aged care and community care sectors. He has an excellent track record of providing strategic and operational leadership, inspiring individuals to achieve organisational goals and driving commercial outcomes.

“Royal Freemasons is delighted to have attracted such a high calibre leader as John to continue our strong tradition of community service and build upon the outstanding work that is delivered every day by our vibrant and dedicated staff,” says Board Chair, Craig Head.

”The Board is confident that in John we have found someone who will lead the organisation with a commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and customer experience, and who will champion the interests of our elders.”

John Fogarty has been providing high level consulting to a range of aged care and health care organisations for the past four years. He was previously with St. John of God Health Care in Western Australia for five years. He served as CEO for St. John of God Murdoch Hospital, as well as Executive Director of Perth Southern Hospitals and then as Executive Director (COO) of Western Australian Hospitals where he held strategic accountability for a portfolio of seven hospitals in WA with turnover of $1.2B. Earlier in his career, John was Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Health Australia (Vic, NSW, ACT) and Chief Executive Officer of St. John of God Hospital Ballarat.

A nurse by background, John has completed a Master of Business Administration and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mr Fogarty is pleased to be joining Royal Freemasons at time where he knows he can really make an impact. “I am extremely excited to be joining the organisation at this pivotal time. I am keen to build on the strong legacy of this 155 year-old organisation to grow, innovate and deliver high quality services that provide positive outcomes to consumers,” says Fogarty.

Mr Fogarty’s immediate focus will be to find innovative ways to navigate the current changes and challenges facing the sector and work closely with the loyal and highly valued staff to support them to deliver the kind of services and standards they aspire to.

“It is an absolute privilege to support fellow Victorians who, after a lifetime of valuable contributions to communities right across the state, now require exceptional care that they are more than entitled to,” says John.

“I also want to work with our dedicated staff to ensure that Royal Freemasons is a place where great people want to come and work and stay working with us.”

John begins his role as Chief Executive Officer of Royal Freemasons today, Monday 16 May 2022.

Kerri Rivett announced her decision to vacate the position earlier this year and the Board are thankful for her strong leadership and dedication to the organisation particularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
