This new program in development aims to provide peer support to customers as they enter care whether that be at home, in an independent living setting or residential care.
This builds on early outcomes from the ‘Transitions into Aged Care’ research led by Deakin University with participation from Royal Freemasons and the existing resident buddy program implemented some years ago at Coppin Centre.
These buddies are established residents who are able to communicate well with co-residents. They make initial contact to introduce themselves, answer questions and offer a tour of the facility should the new resident express an interest to do so.
