Care, Success and Growth - our Year in Review

At the heart of our One Mission is a simple promise: to ensure that our customers live a secure, dignified and rewarding life. In 2013-14 we built on that long-standing tradition by introducing a range of new, client-focused initiatives, particularly in the areas of quality care and accommodation.
We improved the quality of our care in line with our Strategic Growth Plan 2013 - 2018. We continued to benefit from a robust financial position through strong governance, effective management and focused operational efficiency. Our services grew with the addition of 215 aged care beds and 40 independent living units as a result of Springtime Sydenham, Monash Gardens, Elizabeth Gardens and Monash Gardens Village joining the Royal Freemasons family. We now provide care and accommodation to nearly 1,300 older persons.
We continued to enhance our core business to ensure better outcomes for our customers and align services to the government’s “Living Longer Living Better” legislation. Our revitalised Home Care service commenced its transformation through service innovation, restructuring and a new enterprise agreement. Development continued on our second premium retirement living service, Streeton Park on Yarra in Heidelberg, which is due for completion in 2015.
Our staff are the foundation on which our mission is built and deserve congratulations for their willingness to adopt best practice, drive improvement and ensure that our services exceed accreditation standards. Our innovative work in maintaining social connectivity for our customers through tablet technology was acknowledged at our Open Day by the Federal Ambassador for Ageing, Ms Noeline Brown.
There were many highlights during the year including an upgrade of our customer bus fleet, improved access to our services, a refreshed website and, in a first for the aged care sector, a six-part mini-series on Channel 31, “Royal Freemasons – Homes That Care” aired over six weeks to highlight life at ‘the Homes’ through the eyes of our customers and staff and to support community awareness of aged care generally.
