Home care has evolved over the last few years. a change to a consumer directed care model has enabled customers to choose who they want to deliver services and what services they want delivered.
There has also been increased transparency in government funding for Home Care Services, with the introduction of customer control over customers’ care budgets. February 2017 saw the most significant change to the Home Care service market with the introduction of portable Home Care Packages.
The provider no longer owns the package, because the customer rightly does. It has become a true ‘retail’ market where the customer can ‘shop’ for services from a provider of their choosing.
