THE ROYAL FREEMASONS TEAM CONSISTS OF:
- Over 1,650 people who either live in one of our facilities, or connect with us via our Home Care services.
- 1,000 paid employees and, of no lesser importance, our fantastic group of 280 volunteers.
The health, wellbeing, sense of security, job and task satisfaction of all members of our Royal Freemasons family is something we consider to be a genuine part of our corporate duty of care. It is why we annually offer the free Flu Vax program to protect everyone in our sphere from whatever new flu strain will arrive with the onset of each Winter.
It’s the reason we annually honour the invaluable contribution of our volunteers with a celebratory luncheon and awards presentation that symbolically says ‘Thank you!’ Yet, could we ever thank them enough for all they contribute: to lifestyle activities, transport, companionship, walking, fundraising, reading, arts and crafts, music, running the kiosk and the various interest groups?
How much do our volunteers give? We can measure what they gift us in one year in real time data: Making life easier for our hardworking employees is why, this year, we have actively reduced potentially time consuming and duplicitous paperwork within the organisation by introducing a new software system that captures data at the point where a potential employee is offered a position with Royal Freemasons.
What we call ‘digital onboarding’ makes recruitment and induction as easy as possible for all. It’s another aspect of our ‘minimum effort for maximum reward’ drive for efficiency.
The 2016 Lorna Chapman Award For the first time since it was established to recognise and reward exemplary performance and commitment in the workplace, The Lorna Chapman Award was shared by two employees: Marilyn Wallace, at that time a personal care assistant at Centennial Lodge and James Fitzpatrick, a personal care attendant in Home Care.
The award commemorates the Homes’ first Director of Nursing, Lorna Chapman, who was a great champion of residential aged care customers, and the dedicated employees who cared for them. Miss Chapman served with Royal Freemasons for 27 years, later becoming the first female member appointed to the Board.
