Could hearing loss predict a stroke?

A range of studies have found that there is a significant association between low-frequency hearing loss and the risk of cardiovascular disease. Poor cardiovascular health causes inadequate blood flow and blood vessel trauma to the inner ear. The inner ear is so sensitive to blood flow that disorders such as hearing loss may be an early warning sign of cardiovascular disease.

Making a difference ... a syringe driver donation

Demonstrating the generosity and community spirit for which they are renowned, freemasons Gippsland lodge no. 51 donated a key piece of clinical equipment to the Royal Freemasons aged care home in Sale. Representatives from the Lodge, Community Engagement Officer, Liam Cole, and Secretary, Dr Iain Nicolson, handed over a syringe driver to the Manager of Royal Freemasons Sale, to be used in palliative care. Syringe drivers are small infusion pumps that can cost up to $4000.

Our home in Wantirna South, centennial lodge, celebrated its biggest morning tea in may this year since the campaign first started in 2013. This year, Centennial Lodge raised over $150. Carers, invited friends, residents and family gathered together, then donated the much-needed funds to help beat cancer.

A hundred fresh roses for a wonderful Centenarian

Nancy Setford celebrated a fabulous 100th birthday at Royal Freemasons Elizabeth Gardens on 18th July. Nancy was joined by City of Monash Mayor, Paul Klisaris, Richmond Football Club legend Kevin Charles Bartlett, family, residents, employees and friends from St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.

A blast from the past at Mount Martha Valley

On Saturday, October 13, Mount Martha Valley held its second annual Vintage Car Show from 11am - 2pm. The cars on display came from the Southern Peninsula and Historical Car Club which has several classics, veterans and vintage cars. Residents, staff and visitors were impressed by the cars present including; Mustangs, Fords and Corvettes.
