High Care - Extra Service
This involves the payment of an ingoing residential bond and the payment of an additional services fee. The bond is returned to the resident or their estate, less a small percentage, when they cease to reside at the facility. These amounts vary amongst providers, are subject income and asset testing as well as determination by Commonwealth Government legislation (see Admission & Fees for further details of Royal Freemasons' charges).
It is important to understand that extra service does not mean that residents will be provided with a higher level of care (such as medical and nursing services). All high care residential facilities must provide the same level of care to their residents. Extra service residents may receive, for instance, a bigger room, a wider choice of meals, wine with meals or complimentary services such as hairdressing or podiatry.
High care extra service residents enjoy their own bedroom, bathroom and access to shared facilities such as lounges, dining rooms and other shared spaces. Bedrooms and communal spaces are fully furnished, bedding supplied, clothing washed and dried, essential toiletries, cleaning services, all meals, maintenance of buildings and gardens. Recreation activities are also provided, including regular outings.
Additionally, the range of personal care services available, depends on individual needs. These include assistance with the activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, going to the toilet, eating, dressing, mobility aides, maintaining continence or managing incontinence, rehabilitation support, medication management and assistance in obtaining medical services and access to specific therapeutic services.
Royal Freemasons operate one extra service residential aged care facility, Windsor House at Centennial Lodge, Wantirna South. It is the home to 24 residents who enjoy a superior lifestyle.
Windsor House achieved a perfect score at its last accreditation assessment, meeting all 44 requirements of the Commonwealth Government's Aged Care Accreditation Standards.
As the Commonwealth Government subsidises much of the cost associated with the provision of residential high care, regional Aged Care Assessment Services (ACAS) determine eligibility for admission to Windsor House. Royal Freemasons are unable to accept admissions unless an ACAS assessment has been made and they have determined that high level residential care is required. An ACAS assessment can be arranged through your own doctor or community health centre.
