Unlike our other Independent Living Units, Marjorie Nunan Homes does not require residents to pay an ingoing bond or contribution. Instead, residents pay a monthly fee, significantly below the market rental value for this type of accommodation in such close proximity to the city centre. Most residents are also eligible for government rental assistance, which is paid at the same time as the aged pension, further reducing the cost of residing in one of the three Marjorie Nunan Homes.
Residents enjoy an independent lifestyle with access to the vibrant Brunswick community and the available support from local health and community organisations. The Marjorie Nunan Homes were originally built and operated by a benevolent organisation of the same name committed to the provision of affordable housing for elderly Victorians. Marjorie Nunan was herself a pioneer in the quest for pensioners' rights to affordable accommodation in the mid-1900s. With the organisation's demise some years ago, Royal Freemasons acquired the three properties, undertook a substantial upgrade and continued to offer affordable housing, reaffirming our own commitment to ensuring that all elderly Victorians, regardless of their financial means, have suitable accommodation options.

Those interested in admission to Marjorie Nunan Homes please call 1300 1 ROYAL or (03) 9452 2200. They will provide you with an information package, including the necessary application forms. If your application is accepted, we will place you on a waiting list and when a vacancy becomes available, we will contact you to make the necessary arrangements and organise for you to complete a Residential Tenancy Agreement.
